I believe that as humans, we all seek to be heard and understood, especially when navigating difficult emotions and situations. Within a therapeutic setting, I strive to create a place of compassionate and nonjudgmental understanding where my clients can truly feel heard and accepted. We all come from different walks of life and grow up in varying cultural contexts that can influence how we learn to perceive, behave, feel, and cope. Within the therapy process, I seek to work with you collaboratively to identify your own goals and to tailor treatment to best meet your needs. This may look very different depending on your individual needs and preferences, but could include: having an unbiased, nonjudgmental place to express yourself, building specific coping skills to deal with stressors or manage emotions, identifying and restructuring negative thinking styles, changing maladaptive behaviors, learning assertiveness skills, identifying and working towards important values in your life, building insight into unhelpful cyclical patterns, increasing self-esteem and confidence, and recognizing your own strengths.

No matter the specific approach taken though, I always strive to approach therapy through a culturally sensitive lens and my goal is to make you feel safe, supported, and worthy. My hope is to guide you on a journey of change and happiness, providing tools to utilize outside of therapy and to help empower you in being able to make the changes you wish to see for yourself.
My clinical background has provided me with a strong generalist training working with culturally diverse individuals. Much of my training has involved providing therapy for young adults and adults struggling with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, intrusive thoughts, identity development, life transition difficulties, multicultural issues, depression, relationship and interpersonal concerns, and trauma, to name a few. I am also very passionate about and have expertise in working with the eating disorder population and promoting healthy, positive body image and acceptance. As previously mentioned, my treatment approach varies depending on individual concerns and needs, but I often incorporate evidenced-based treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure therapies, and Dialectical Behavioral techniques. I am skilled in providing both individual and group therapy. I am also fluent in Spanish and am able to provide services to those seeking a Spanish speaking therapist.
